First of all, my services to you as a buyer are absolutely free. The seller hires an agent and agrees to pay that agent a commission for the listing service. That commission is typically a percentage of the final sales price of the property. If I am representing you as a buyer, when you buy the home, that listing agent splits the already agreed upon commission with me. The seller ends up paying the fees collected buy both agents. This is why it is in your best interest not to call the agent on the for sale sign, as that agent represents the seller best interest and you can have your own representation free of charge.
